Rupa Ray is a self-taught fashion designer. Although she received formal degrees in fashion design at a later stage it has been her passion for a long time. And the seed was sown when she watched her grandmother embroidering and sewing clothes (by hand) for her and the neighbouring children.

Like most working women Rupa had to shelve her passion for a long time until her children started going to colleges. (Incidentally, her daughter has taken to her passion and is a student of fashion communications at NIFT, Delhi).

Rupa turned her passion into a full time profession when in 2012, with the help of primarily her husband, started Warp & Weft – a boutique for those who love fashion in its most practical sense.

Yes, Rupa designs outfits according to the likings of her clients who are mostly professionals (some of them live abroad). Rupa understands their psyche – which colours would match their personality, which fabric would be most comfortable for them (based upon their lifestyle), which ‘cut’ they would look best in, and a lot more. And, most importantly, the quality of fabric, stitches, and the accessories used – are something which gets Rupa’s prime attention.
